About Convolution

Convolution is a signal processing technique in which the characteristics of on acoustic space or audio filter are applied to an input audio signal. Using standard mathematical procedures to convolve the audio signal with an impulse response, one can create a near perfect simulation of any space or effect modeled by the IR. The most common application of convolution is in digital reverb, but convolution can also accurately recreate the characteristics of speaker cabs, amps, and instrument resonances.

We built an open repository of impulse responses. Direct plugin access to the entire IR library is coming in v1.2.

* We still use Tiger and PowerPC too. We're working on it. Promise. Well, I lied. The way Apple has done Snow Leopard's 64-bit AU support is forcing us to choose between PPC compat and 64-bit compat, and we're gonna go with the future....sorry kids
** These are what we use, so its what we've rigorously tested on.

NOTE: Live 8.1.1 crashes on AU Plugins Ableton is fixing it and has suggested an interim fix.
